it's time to talk about the oc.

season finale! season finale! aack!

1. intervention. is this, like, an after school special or something? i love seth, with the quick quips. it was pretty low key, at least compared to bailey's intervention on party of five. completely appropriate it took place in the kitchen.

2. trey got what he deserved. ideally, the annoying hobag who can't go to war would have been shot, too. ick.

3. i could have used a little more summer time, though the lack of it put me back on the marissa-and-ryan train.

4. julie and jimmy. i love jimmy, i really do. what's with julie becoming a sympathetic character, though? calling herself a bitch, offering to help sandy with kirsten, getting back together with her fabulous ex-husband.

5. the "summer season" begins next week. "encore presentations" of all our favorite episodes from season 2.

over all, it was pretty good. more action, but not as much cliffhanging as last year, i think.

sethsdisciple? are you out there?

I was deathly afraid of the intervention when it was set up, but it worked pretty well with Seth coming off the bench to save the whole thing.

The best Seth quote was definitely:

Seth: "The way things are going, I bet that's gonna be Oliver."

The Trey look of agony/surprise/betrayal? was definitly shmultzy enough to carry that scene. Beautiful.

    >3. i could have used a little more summer time, though the lack of it put me back on the marissa-and-ryan train.

It was a good episode for Summer. I actually find I like the episodes where things revolve around her a little more. Maybe it is becuase I like the Seth/Summer thing, and the Summer/Marissa friendship doesn't get a lot of play, so I look forward to it.

It will be interesting to see who the "big bad" is next year with Caleb, Trey, and even Julie minimized.

But the burning question for next year is obviously are they still in H.S.? Are they in perpetual H.S.? Not that there is anything wrong with it if they are. Better than arbitrarily breaking up the best character matches because of "reality." Realitys got nothin' to do with the O.C. afterall.

And as I was looking for that quote above, I tripped upon another one from a long lost episode that I have to include:

Seth: Mom, I'm not feeling well today, I don't think I can go to school.
Ryan: Maybe you've gt the SUMMERf lu. Maybe you need some ANNAbiotics.

    Hah!

ha! i remember it! quality! i do miss anna.

summer definitely held a key role.

as far as the high school thing: i think last year they were sophomores, so this year was jr year. maybe it was junior prom they went to? there would have been more talk of college (esp w/ seth) if they had been seniors. also, there's bound to be a discussion with ryan, kirsten and sandy... "we're paying for your school" "no, i'm going back to chino" etc.

What proof is there that they were sophs? Does it make sense that Marissa was running LOTS of stuff as a soph? Just wondering if I missed somfin.

    >if they had been seniors. also, there's bound to be a discussion with ryan, kirsten and sandy... "we're paying for your school" "no, i'm going back to chino" etc.

And it would definitely happen in the kitchen.

    I love the kitchen.

I also love how smarmy the writers are, this time with the ref to North Shore. Ha.

    Hardly a hardship.
