i just want to go the effing library.
Ughhhhhhhhh. It's just so irritating that the two freaking municipalities can't come up with an agreement so I can go to the library that:
1. I like
2. is convenient to my home.
3. is conveniently on my way home from work.
I was mad at Louisville for wanting more money from Superior, then mad at Superior for wanting me to PAY FOR MY LIBRARY CARD. I've had a library card since before I even had an allowance. Growing up in my family meant getting a library card as soon as you learned how to write your name. I had that freaking card with my name scrawled on the back in blue ink until I moved to Colorado (and I may still have it). LIBRARY CARDS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FREE. Now, of course...
Since forking over the cash is no longer even an option for me, all I can think is that I'd pay the $30 they wanted, and would probably pay more than that. BUT THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE WON'T TAKE MY MONEY. Literally. Therefore, they get nothing. Not my money, not the town's money. BUT I AM* THE ONE WHO LOSES.
My anger is probably irrational, as I think I can join Broomfield or Boulder (and may even be able to use my card in Louisville, my righteous indignation has prevented me from researching thoroughly). But the fact is I already HAVE a library card. I EVEN HAVE A FINE!!
Ugh, this post is going nowhere and writing it is making me madder still. I am being a baby and I don't care. At least you can just close your browser window or navigate elsewhere. Poor Joe has to listen to me.
*Also any other Superior residents who use the library but whatevs.

powerless morning
Not an accurate description.
The power flickered twice before it went off for a couple hours at about 8 am. Joe missed his usual bus, and I missed some work time trying to find a place that (a) had power and (b) had wireless. Both Panera and my neighborhood coffee shop were out.
I ended up at LaMar's donuts. A donut shop is not the worst place to be forced to work, that's for sure.

please, someone tell me how
How is Seventh Heaven motivation while working out? I mean, I love me some crappy television... but that is the CRAPPIEST of ALL THE CRAP.
Who knows. Maybe people hate to watch The Food Network when I'm there first. Emeril is a little annoying.

ick, wal-mart.
For those of you keeping track, I still hate Wal-mart. I still don't shop there. I haven't blogged about it in a long time (why didn't I have a Wal-mart tag until today?) I will admit that I do take my empty shopping bags to recycle there, and will continue to until someone tells me if/how they are making money from it.
When I read this article, I didn't know what to think.
Well, of course they don't need it. I don't want them to have any more money either, but:
Legally speaking, Wal-Mart has a right to the money. Still-- ick:
When I read this article, I didn't know what to think.
"Who needs the money more? A disabled lady in a wheelchair with no future, whatsoever, or does Wal-Mart need $90 billion, plus $200,000?" he asked.
Well, of course they don't need it. I don't want them to have any more money either, but:
Wal-Mart spokesman John Simley, who called Debbie Shank's case "unbelievably sad," replied in a statement: "Wal-Mart's plan is bound by very specific rules. ... We wish it could be more flexible in Mrs. Shank's case since her circumstances are clearly extraordinary, but this is done out of fairness to all associates who contribute to, and benefit from, the plan."

Jim Shank, 54, is recovering from prostate cancer, works two jobs and struggles to pay the bills. He's afraid he won't be able to send their youngest son to college and pay for his and Debbie's care.

five effing years.
How has your life changed in the past five years? I'm in a new state, with a new significant other, and new job #1,223 since 2003.
Still-- I don't know REAL change. REAL, soul-altering, watched someone suffer and die change. I have no concept of having been deployed, come home and been deployed again.
Five years. I feel sick.

running around
The past couple weeks have been crazy. I helped HotCop get ready for her Pampered Chef party then helped her clean up from it. I served on a jury last Tuesday then threw my own hostess party last week on Saturday, then drove to Wakefield for a bridal shower on Sunday. I spent this week running around seeing Tom, who was in town on business, finishing up my taxes, selling stuff on Craigslist (anyone in the market for a Coach purse?), doing laundry for the first time in two weeks, and then was too lazy by the end of the week to meet Brad and the Aw-zee for the DJ last night, if they even made it.
HotCop and I were supposed to go look at bridesmaids dresses this morning, but her schedule changed. That got pushed til tomorrow, when I'm also planning to meet fellow bridesmaid Susie so we can plan bridal shower #2, to be hosted at my house next Saturday. This is not HotCop's shower, it's for the girl who picked the yellow dress. So far, no one has RSVP'd. I'm not surprised, however, as the invitations only went out Wednesday.
Plus, it was a shitty week at work with sporadic outages which means my phone rang ten times as much as it usually does, and the customers were 5 times as mad.
Now I'm sitting here with nothing to do and wallowing. Oh, Beatrice, why doesn't anyone want to spend time with me? But if I'm called to go out tonight? Veronica Mars, Jesus Camp and Tivo will probably take precedent.

notsick.

I woke up this morning (sick and) tired, and decided I really, really did not want to be sick-- and therefore, I wasn't. Too much to do today! It feels too nice to be home!
I got up, made coffee and oatmeal, had a tangelo and still REALLY REALLY wasn't going to be sick. I was OK!
I picked up around the house, vaccuumed the entire downstairs and most of the upstairs, swept the kitchen, loaded all my craft stuff into my new storage box, watched two episodes of Gilmore Girls, and called my parents. Let's go to Costco! I need contacts! Costco turned into Costco, Panera and Trader Joe's (not that I'm complaining). Everytime we got back in the car I said Aaahh. My mom kept saying You really are sick. Gargle with salt water. My dad used my state as an excuse to drive around looking for a better spot. Erika is tired! Yeah. I'm freaking exhausted. I shouldn't even been sitting up straight right now, and I still have to plan my Sunday School lesson for tomorrow, mop the kitchen and front hall and haul out the Christmas decoration boxes. And watch a movie.
Nap first. I guess I really am not well.

i really, really hate myspace pages.
My friends talk about finding old classmates and long lost friends on myspace all the time. If only the interface weren't so crappy and people didn't have such bad taste in formatting (why the song? WHY the white text on the red background? why do those words have to move?), I would friend-search as well. But it hurts my eyes and my head and all of my sensibilities. And I am not alone. Also here. (Click through for full appreciation of the image)Labels: hates

i can't even explain to you how mad i am.
I got home today, no new carpet padding. Despite the fact that we had been promised it.
No message from the property manager, telling me why my house is still a shithole.
I'm pissed. Mostly because this is my Night In. The one night for the rest of the week I have to watch TiVo, hang out with my cat and generally sloth it up.
Seriously. This kind of lack of follow up is what we -thought- we moved away from.
And what gets me is that I KNEW this was going to happen. I KNEW something was going to go wrong once we got all settled in. That's why it took so long.
I'm done. I'm so freaking done.
